Canyoning ropes

Canyoning ropes

Static, abrasion-resistant rope must be used in canyoning. Since the rope is used doubled, a smaller diameter than that used in caving will suffice. However, this means you need to pay special attention to any potential abrasion or rub points (often neglected in canyoning). Specialized canyoning ropes therefore have a thicker diameter than would otherwise be needed.
Warning:
Though the rope may have a nominal shrinkage of 0 %, don't forget that canyoning ropes still shrink over time due to aging and wear on the fibers.
See Semi-static Caving Ropes for more ropes.
For descenders See Ascenders - Pulleys - Descenders.
